Zuri Johnson

Faith, fitness and fierceness. These words not only embody Zuri Johnson’s platform but they also reflect the life she strives for daily. She leads a multifaceted life as a minority internship program coordinator for state government; the Chief Encouragement Officer for her business, Queenly Behavior, LLC; a commercial, hair, fashion, e-commerce and runway plus size model; and the former reigning Miss Ohio Plus America 2015. As a model, speaker, coach and business woman she is impacting the world one smile at a time.

She has a passion for educating, edifying, and empowering women of all ages to live more abundant and fulfilling lives that involve walking in their purpose. Through her newly launched business she hosts monthly empowerment meetings and sells accessories and apparel that celebrate beauty, femininity and godliness. Zuri has also collaborated with middle and high school age girl groups and conducted “The Confidence Clinic” where young ladies discover tools to grow in their self-esteem, reveal their talents and inner beauty, and take part in “rocking the runway” and walking with confidence. She has reached over 400 young women so far through this platform.

As a woman who loves servant leadership, Zuri found her fervor for fashion and beauty could also be expressed through service, or modeling and pageantry. And the plus size community has been the perfect avenue for her focus. She faced her past insecurities with body image and took the pageant/modeling world by storm after winning her first ever pageant for the title of Miss Kentucky Plus America 2014 and going on to place as first runner up to Miss Plus America 2014.

“I’ve battled with body image for a considerable portion of my life. If it wasn’t my weight and wanting the numbers on the scale to reflect what I saw in the mirror, then it was frustrations with my skin and whether my eczema was going to let me be great today. But I’ve found that the less I focused on numbers or stressed about my skin, the better I felt and the more active I was. And when I felt better and didn’t get stressed out, then I exercised more, treated my body better and my flare ups occurred less often. And it created this awesome cycle and balance. I have to love myself first, see myself as the fearfully and wonderfully made woman I am, and then my body will reflect that. I want other women to realize this cycle as well.”
